Chapter 2ACADIA
Acadia followed the path to a small bathhouse with some steam coming out the door. She stepped in, and she was immediately handed a fresh white towel. She stepped into a stall. She saw fresh clothes right near the stall door. She slid the clothes from under the stall and put it on. It was an orange t-shirt that read: Camp Half Blood. There was also a nice pair of jeans and new sneakers. She came out, and she returned the towel. Then, she saw Annabeth. "You look better," she said. "Thanks, I think." replied Acadia. Annabeth laughed. "Come on," said Annabeth with a motion to follow. "We have to find out your godly parent and get you claimed." So Acadia followed Annabeth to a huge red and orange and yellow fire pit with hundreds of demigods sitting on logs with the same shirt she was wearing. "Hi, Acadia!" said Percy, as he walked up to Acadia. "Hi," said Acadia. "Okay!" said Annabeth, making everything quiet. "This is Acadia Koran! A new demigod welcomed to camp! We are hoping she will be claimed tonight!" she said. Everyone looked at each other, wondering if they would have a new member to the cabin and a new half-brother or half-sister. Annabeth looked up to the sky as did everyone else. "Gods and Goddesses! Welcome Acadia to the demigod family! Show us who her godly parent is!" said Annabeth to the sky. Then all of a sudden, Acadia shined a fierce white. Then it changed to a radiating yellow. Finally, it switched to silver. Over Acadia's head, had a silver arrow overlapping a moon. And everyone gasped. "A daughter of..." started Percy. "Artemis?" asked Chiron, stepping out of the crowd. "Impossible!" said a child of Aphrodite. "But it's true." said someone in the crowd. The gathered demigods parted, to reveal a group of girls wearing gray colored parkas with a quiver on their back full of silver and Celestial Bronze arrows with a bow and arrow in their hands. "I am Thalia Grace," she told Acadia. "I am lieutenant of the Hunters of Artemis. And we have been told by Artemis herself that you are the only child of Artemis in the entire universe." Acadia just stood there in shock. She knew Artemis was a maiden, never having a child. Yet, that explained the feeling she had when she was near Artemis's cabin, and why she chose the bow and arrow. "How is it possible?" asked Annabeth. "We have no idea. But Artemis has a lot of explaining to do," said Thalia. "We would like to take Acadia for the rest of the night so we can explain to her what is happening, and we will return her for curfew." said a girl, with black hair and faded blonde streaks. "Okay Mia," said Annabeth. Acadia got the hint and walked to the Hunters. "Wasn't Artemis a maiden?" Acadia suddenly asked, after the Hunters brought Acadia to their tent. "That's why Artemis is here to explain," said the girl named Mia, revealing a young woman. "Artemis?" asked Acadia. "Hello, my daughter." she said. "Although, everyone calls me a maiden, I am. But I did have a love affair with your father." began Artemis. "But you're not my mom, Queen Fiona." argued Acadia. "No, I'm not," replied Artemis calmly. "But I was before Queen Fiona. See, when your father and I had you, I saw hatred in your father, and so," explained Artemis. "I divorced him and shunned men for the rest of my life." "So, you’re my mom." Acadia figured out. "Yes," said Artemis. "You are Artemis's daughter, and we will be of your aid. Though, unless you join the Hunters, we won't be by your side all the time. You may return to Camp, and if you need us, or Artemis, Iris-message us first." said Thalia. The Hunters gave Acadia a new silver bow entwined with Celestial Bronze with a thin, but strong piece of string. They also gave her a business card that said: Hunters of Artemis; Highly Trained Archers. It came with a number that said to join call the number below. Acadia headed back to camp. When she got there, Annabeth, Percy, and the other counselors gathered around her. "Let's take this inside to the Meeting Room." said Percy and so they went there. "Well," started Acadia as she sat down in a chair around a huge table. She told her story. "Whoa," said Leo, a guy with curly brown hair, he was the Hephaestus Cabin Counselor, and you could tell by the way he twiddled his thumbs every so often. "I think that's enough tonight." said Piper, a young woman with choppy brown hair. Jason, a guy with blonde hair and bright blue eyes yawned. "Yeah, I'm tired." So they all went back to their cabins. Acadia stepped into the cold cabin of Artemis. She found a small bed and slept there for the night. The next day, while Acadia walked around, she accidentally bumped into someone. "Hey!" shouted the boy as he turned around. "Watch where you're..." he began. "Sorry, dude. Jeez." muttered Acadia. "I'm Xavier." he told Acadia. "Acadia," she replied. They became half-friends, and Acadia walked some more. Then, Acadia ran into some Aphrodite kids. And it wasn't so pleasant. |
